A question about ART IDs

Options
3 years ago DS1 went off to Uni and we filled in all the forms, but our income was sufficiently high that in subsequent years he applied without declaring our income.

This year DS2 is off to Uni, DS1 is entering his fourth and final year, and it looks like it IS worth declaring our income, at least for DS2.

So, when it asks on the form for our ART ID if we've recently dealt with Student Finance, is that the one we were sent that first year which we've not used since? And which of course I can't find, I think I asked DS1 to put it in a safe place, but he's given me his I think when I've asked for it!

And are we going to have to send our proof of earnings in separately for each of them? I'm going to prioritise DS2 (and yes I know we're close to the deadline!) because I have NO idea if DS1 has even started to think about filling in his forms - if he has it will be a first!

If you already have an ART ID then that is the one you have to use as they won't let you sign up for another one. You can use this link to try and find out what your ART ID is but it doesn't always worked. It got me confused with another person before: https://secure.studentfinancedirect.co.uk/portal/page?_pageid=53,1201052&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

You should be OK sending them once and putting both ART IDs on the letter/note you send with it as it is all processed at the same place. Your son will have already missed the deadline as it is earlier for returning students (23rd May).

Thanks, I either can't remember my password, or I can't remember the surname of my childhood hero! I don't remember having one, as it happens ...

Will try phoning them tomorrow ...

    Hi Sue

parents always forget their Art IDs as it normally gets filed away somewhere and forgotten about so don't worry about it. If you phone SLC, they'll send out ur password and Art IDs in the post.

I am pretty sure I gave our ART IDs to DS1, on the grounds that it mattered to HIM that we didn't lose them. However, it's now 3 years since we needed them, so I'm not really surprised if he has 'lost' them.

May see if DH can access his ...

I know ... one of his friends got married on Saturday!

He still hasn't filled in his loan forms, though ... and I think this year it might be worth his while to declare our income! that appears to be the case for DS2, because of the 'new' system.
