Should I fix..?

Am I better going for the 2011 rather than the 2009 ? I was told I could go for the 2009 if I wanted then if things were much the same then or looked like getting worse I could easily go onto the 2011.
I preferred the 2011 price fix as 7% loading seemed a good deal bearing in mind that on the 2009 deal you will be faced with the same problem (the new price rises) then.
Everyone elses situation is different but the fact that NPower are keen to dump price fix 2011 or midify it, so the deal is not as good, suggests they don't want many more people taking advantage of it.
If you think prices will come down next year stay with 2009 price fix, if you think the price will go up and can afford to pay 7% extra and are happy to pay that price for 2.5 years, take the 2011 price fix. Let us know what you decide and how you get on.0 -
Phoned up a few minutes ago and npower have just refused me the 2011 tariff saying that it is withdrawn and should not be advertised on its site and several people have asked about this. However as you say it is still there!0

If you mention it's advertised on the website I'm sure they're duty bound to honour it.....thats what I told them yesterday and had no problem.
npoweruser - I'll have a think over the weekend about my finances and see which one will suit us best. Don';t want to pay a lot extra at the minute if I can help it as finances are a bit stretched.Mary

That seems very unfair, which suggests they must have now reached the limit of customers they were prepared to allow to join. As a goodwill gesture and seeing most people would assume you had until 31st July to act, you would have thought they would honour their link.
My advice to Mary43 is grab the 2011 fix if you still can or can afford to do so, bearing in mind the meter reading + 1 months usage.
My gut feeling in 1 months time they wont give you the 2011 price fix, they will say we will only honour the 2009 one.0 -
Think you may well be right npoweruser
Surely if the date advertised on the website is 31/7/08 they have to honour that ?Mary

I think it depends on the sales agent you speak to. I guess I was lucky I managed to twist their arm, perhaps they were told from today they were not allowing any more under any circumstances. They do have an added get out of jail clause "Offer is limited, subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time".
Mind you, they said they will put it all in writing so I will believe it when I see it. Good luck Mary.0 -
Well, when I phoned them I did waffle on about being a long standing customer and quoted what I'd seen on here (I'd printed it out) - not sure whether that would have made a difference.
Thanks for your help npoweruserMary

So what's the best option now, to go on the shorter fix until March? Problem is that I am on SOL10 and this means an increase to their standard rate. At least being on variable means I can still switch to another supplier and bag a bonus! Perhaps I should get thicker insulation or buy a wooly jumper! :rotfl:0

If you're on SOL10 I would personally stay on it and take any increase it brings. It's a very cheap tariff, probably about 25%-30% cheaper than the price fix so I don't think you have much to gain as the price fix isn't for very long.
If I was on SOL10 I'd stay on it, wait for the price rises and then see what deals are available.0
