Buying Travel Money thru a Credit card

I'm a newbie to the site and cannot find anything on this topic. I ordered £1500 travel money thru RBS Royalties, paying it with RBS credit card - BIG mistake!!! Was charged £45 right away by RBS as it was classed as a cash transaction. At monthly statement time, I have been charged another £25.... On phoning RBS to query, I was told that, as it was a cash transaction, I get charged PER DAY. A very expensive lesson.... Any advice?

Transfer the whole balance to a new card but to do this expect to pay around 3% balance transfer fee.

Or pay it back ASAP (TODAY) to lessen the blow and find another way of obtaining your travel money. Are you travelling to somewhere remote where credit cards are not accepted or have you alreday been and spent the money ?
  • Did not discover this until we came back from holiday. Have learnt my lesson - changing card provider as a wee protest & won't be getting travel money thru a CC again....

Most lessons in life are indeed expensive, hopefully you'll be able to find a good 0% deal to transfer it to.
Have you thought about the Abbey 'Zero' card ? It's BT fee free and 6 months 0% so maybe an option to consider.
