How long before sending a reminder

Hi

How long would you say is reasonable before sending a buyer a reminder to pay? I sold an item on Monday and sent an invoice the same day. I've heard nothing from the buyer yet. They have good feedback and many 'prompt payer comments' so I don't want to be unreasonable.

I know I can file a NPB after 7 days, but do you thinka reminder now is acceptable. Is there a formal reminder on ebay or do I just e-mail my own

Thanks

Mpet

I usually send a reminder on day 7 and would start the NPB process on about day 10-12.

If a buyer is sending a cheque it can take over a week to arrive.

It's always nice to send a message saying a cheque was sent though if that is the case. When sellers send me an invoice and i intend to pay by postal order, i always reply to the invoice stating how i'm paying.

Most people send a message saying when they intend to pay...

i always send a email to the seller telling them that the cheque has been posted and wether its been posted 1st or 2nd class (depends on what stamps i have handy)

I rarely ever get any mail from my buyers if they pay by cheque, the first I know about it is when a cheque turns up in the second week.

  • After 7 days I send a message that says

"Since it is 7 days from the end of the auction and I have had no communication from you, would you please confirm whether or not you wish to purchase this item."

In about 80% of cases I at least get an email from them i think becuase it doesn't actually ask them to pay. After 14 days they get the email saying essentially talk to me or I'll relist it.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

I like the wording of your reminder. I think I'll send something similar. I have 2 non payers at the moment with no e-mails or anything from them. I know these payments are not very late yet, but when I buy something on E-bay I always use paypal within 24 hours or when I used to send cheques, e-mail and say that I've posted in 1st/2nd class etc - nothing more than common courtesy in my opinion.

Ah well - what can you do!!

i always start the non paying bidder process after 7 or 8 days
95% of the time, if you dont get the payment in the second week, you won't!

In my listings, it always mentions that email contact is required within 24 hours of close of auction. I send them a "Congrats" email at close, they then respond to this. In your case now, a personal email congratulating them on their winning bid and enquirng as to "how they wish to proceed so as to ensure they receive item ASAP" would be OK, but also set a deadline for response and tell them this
  • Wait 7 days and send them a polite reminder that you havent received payment and ask them to get in contact - just in case they have been away and left a large proxy bid to cover themselves or used a snipe to bag the item.

After 10 days (wait another 3) then send an Ebay reminder (in your templates if you have seller manager) and after 2 weeks in total file NPB and offer a second chance.

Not everyone checks their emails daily and sometimes problems arise where you dont log on for a few days... be patient, dont be hasty and dont leave feedback straight away.
I eBay, you eBay, we eBay.... just do it!!!!!

3 days for a reminder via ebays reminder process
and 7 days to file an npb as it takes ten days for the npb to be granted so thats 17 days in all more than enough
need to have a lightbulb moment
