haven holiday insurance / TPS having problems

i lost a bag on holiday and put in a claim on 22nd may.. i filled in the form answering all the questions and even wrote a letter explaining more... i have called every few days for updates as i didnt feel i was getting anywhere. i was told they was waiting to hear from the police.
i got an email saying as they had not heard from the police i would have to have a home visit with a loss assessor...
the police got back to them today and even left a contact number for the officer dealing with it, but now the claim handler is saying i still have to have the home visit as he didnt get what he wanted from the police.... i have asked what it is he wants from a loss assessor that he cant get from the police but no reply ....
im so confused i dont think they are going to pay out and i dont really know what a loss assessor is or does

Basically you will need to prove or show evidence that the items in the bag which was lost belonged to you - eg receipts, photos of you wearing a particular item etc etc.
