PLEASE HELP ME !!!
I have just had a new computer - I want to reinstall ms office - I have a genuine disk but when I try to install it goes so far then a box appears saying something like ''office cannot find windings, PLEASE VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS TO IT'' -I clicked on retry and the same thing kept happening - I have checked in my fonts folder and there are two fonts which look right in there -one called webding and one called winding. what do I do now - what is missing and can I download it from anywhere for free.I REALLY WANT TO INSTALL MS OFFICE AS I HAVE PAID FOR IT AFTER ALL. I do know there are free alternatives but I want to get ms office back on my computer
All suggestions VERY gratefully acepted. Thanks in advance. Karin

What version is Windows, and what version is MS Office?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0

Can you check the regional settings in the Control Panel, and make sure all the options are set to United Kingdom, under all 3 tabs, Regional Options, Languages & Advanced.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0

I have done that but still it hangs halfway through installation then shows the following warning
'' Error 1305 - error reading from file;
C:\WINGDN3.TTF.
verify that the file exists and that you can access it;;
It then gives options to ''retry'' or ''cancel''.
When I ask to retry it continues and then comes up again, (and again; adinfinitum), until I am forced to cancel and give up.
I am getting annoyed with it now and, tho' I can of course manage without it, I am stubborn and don't want to let it beat me.
Any further ideas???

Wingdings is a font
You can download it here
http://www.fontstock.net/11079/Wingdings.html
And then stick it in your Fonts folder which, if you are using XO, will be in your Windows folder.
There are Wingdings 2 and Wingdings 3 Fonts as well, might be an idea to grab all three, you should get them from the site aboveIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
It is possible the CD is damaged. Try cleaning it, and try again.
Then try making a duplicate copy of the CD and see if that works.
If the CD fails in its copy, then it looks like a damaged CD. Try cleaning the CD again and try another copy.
If it is damaged beyond repair then as long as it's an original CD and you have the licence key, Microsoft will sell you a replacement for a nominal fee.
Or you could try borrowing a CD from a friend, if they have the same version and use your licence key?
EDIT - Just noticed, does the error message really say c:\wi.... and not d:\win...?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
Does sound like a dirty cd to me.
The other thing you can do is to use another pc connected to your network. Place the cd in the other m/c, share the cd drive then under Tools select "Map Network drive". Browse to the disc and your new pc will then read from it.0 -

Or they could take the Cd to a friend and try copying it on another machine, as we know what some CD players can't read, others can!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
