What benefits do I get with HD TV

Have signed up for a SKY HD+ box with one entertainment package. But am confused as to what HD is and what benefits it has. Any help?

If you don't knwo what it is why did you sign up for it?

HD = High Definition, it gives a better picture quality but ONLY if you have a HD telly. If you haven't got a HD Telly you've just wasted your money.

Sky HD broadcasts in 720 pixels per screen so you need a HD ready TV to see any benefit otherwise it'll scale he picture down to sd (normal tv) which is 480 pixels.
