not sure if i am going to explain this very well as i am doing it for someone else - my understanding is that someone has downloaded a videoed presentation onto their windows computer and then onto a cd but the disc only plays sound onto friends mac computer - if the video is burnt onto a dvd will my friend be able to watch it on her mac computer - basically we are wondering if the other friend had put it onto a dvd instead of a cd my friend would have been able to watch it and its nothing to do with the different computer systems - any help would be appreciated

It depends entirely on what kind of file(s) is/are on the CD/DVD and which codecs are installed on the Mac.
Try downloading Video LAN Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) on the Mac and see if you can open it in there - Video LAN Player has a lot of built-in codecs, so you should be able to see it properly.0 -
That sounds like some kind of codec problem. In some weird format which works on the Windows machine (because you have the codec) but not on the Mac machine (because you need to install the codec).
What format is the video in?
I am almost certain that whatever the video is, the Mac will play it with VLC Media Player (as it plays pretty much everything).
It's free and available from: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
