My DD has to wear 70 denier opaque tights in Navy!
Great fun trying to find those at any price!
How old is she? This site http://www.localschooluniform.co.uk/girls70denieropaquetightstwinpack-p-65.html has them for a range of ages in Navy from £3.99 for a twin pack.
If adult sized needed, Here has them for £3.00 each.0 -
Also don't forget the very MSE trick of cutting off the leg which has laddered from all pairs and wearing two pairs of one legged tights! Also the very cheap leggings that you can buy in places like matalan for about £3 look (I find) like 70 deniers after a couple of washes and last much longer- could be an option when it gets cooler and she's wearing boots?Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

I bought my 9 year old daughter's opaque tights from Primark. She fits the smallest size in the ladies tights and they were about £1.50 for 3 pairs.:smileyhea0

Personally I used to hate wearing tights at schhol. They used to ladder all the time, and I found them uncomfortable and itchy. And very hot except in the winter. Given the choice I would have worn socks! (we didn't have the choice).
It is now about 10 years since I last wore a pair of tights (or pop socks). Bliss!
But that's just my opinion.....0 -
I wear 40 denier tights with skirts/dresses at work. You can get them really cheap in multi packs at Matalan and Asda, and possibly other supermarkets.0

I get mine from Tescos. They are the only place that does them with long enough legs without being to baggy round the waist. (I'm 5'8")0 -
I got my tights from New Look, which lasted me several months.0

Buy her the tights and save money on counselling later.
Seriously at 14/15 years old she will be getting no end of stick for wearing socks - well she would be if she went to the school i went to anyway.
I could understand your point if she was at primary school, but thick tights should last a teenager longer than a fortnight unless shes still into climbing walls and trees.
My serious suggestion is you buy her 2 pairs a month, and she buys any additional pairs she needs from her pocket money. She might be more careful with them."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." At the school my 2 older daughters attend (the youngest is still in primary school) girls either wear socks or tights. The majority of girls up to year 9 wear socks with a number staying in socks in years 10 and 11. My 14 year old won’t be bullied for wearing socks at her particular school, but I am aware there are places where it would cause a problem. The majority of her friends wear socks for school, and when she gets home she can wear what she wants within reason. She does wear tights on occasions such as going to friends’ birthday parties, but for daily school wear she like many girls at her school wear socks. My oldest daughter has expressed a wish to wear tights when she starts her KS4 studies in September, but due to the nature of the school I have described I don’t think I need to go to the extra expense just yet however modest it may appear.0
