Child forums

When I do a search of a particular forum the results header shows the topic for which I am searching followed by the title of the forum followed by "and child forums". What does this mean?

Child forums are sub forums of one main group.
The Telephone Boards for instance have three sub forums of Home Phones, Internet and Mobile Phones.

Thands for the explanation. I suspected that might be the case but was thrown by the fact that it still comes up even on the boards where there are no sub-boards. Doesn't matter of course but I just had to know.0
