granite worktop cutting

I've got 2 of 2.4m granite worktops sitting on the side of my house for over a year - they came with the kitchen with £800 quote for fitting and at a time we just decided to wait and fitted cheap B&Q worktops instead. Then we lost phone numbers and info on whoever was quoting us. Is there any companies that would cut and install them and how much approximately would it cost now?

Cutting, finishing and polishing granite needs specific machinery. Are you looking to just cut them to length or do they need sink and hob cutouts etc?

I think your best bet might be a stonemasons as they are used to working with granite, have the equipment and are usually more flexible than somebody who supplies and fits their own stuff only.

by cutting I meant cutting to size + cutting hole for sink in one of them and for hob in the other one.
We are down in Hampshire so it probably would have to be something local as these things are heavy!
    Any ideas anyone?

Try Phil, at The Stone Workshop:-

    http://www.thestoneworkshop.co.uk/

He's based in Farnham so Hampshire is his area, he's one of my customers.

Say Alan from A.T. Stone recommended him.

It's a tall order asking what the fitting cost is without some idea of the volume of cuts and hob/sink requirements.

There's a world of difference in cost between a drop in sink and an undermount with drainer grooves etc...

    thanks alan

i understand it is a tall order to give rough price. its quite a basic layout 2 straight lengths and one l shape with a joint of course and two unpolished cut outs 1 for hob and one for sink.
    cheers

That won't be a big fit, probably around the £500 mark if it's all simple, maybe even a little less.
