Things are definitely lively on here tonight, so here's another one of these to show everyone the real purpose of this thread.
    Hi Everyone,

Not sure if we have this thread over here on BR board but DFW bump this often so that newcomers new & old are aware of the possibility of `troll` issues.

They `bump` it along regularly to keep it in peoples minds. Perhaps it would work over here?

Pania`s words are so brilliant I could`nt better them myself so I copied as below.

    Notice to newcomers re trolls.
    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes

I knew it was only a matter of time before we had this sort of thing in here. Why does it bother anyone that this thread exists? Obviously mse admin are happy to have it and so are most users.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • Ummm my main concern isn't 'my mobile phones' my main concern is not having these debts hanging over my head.

But like someone suggested 'my head is all over the place' and as such I have questions about everything, incluing things on other threads I posted like wages and banks etc.. I just wanted to know about mobiles and contracts, the mobiles are not the most important thing but why shouldn't I know what happens to them?

Please don't insult me when you know nothing about my life, circumstances or reasons for asking certain questions.

Please don`t let these posters make you feel this way....you are looking for support to find a solution to your debt crisis....you know how bad your situation is & having been in a similar situation myself I know exactly how vulnerable it feels.

Well done for posting....I have replied to your thread....please don`t let these posters put you off. By all means PM me if you need to discuss off thread.....remember the important thing here is not how you got here but recognising & wanting to sort your debt out once & for all.

BR/DFW are in my opinion the most likely for attack from idiots, and we do need extra protection from MSE towers,

Fully agree mate - you have seen yourself the amount of times people come onto my unenforceability thread with the pure notion of trying to claim i'm incorrect which in turn makes new posters doubt what they are reading until you guys come along and tell them not to listen to the trolls...

It happened only a week ago (even you backed me remember?) - someone came on and trashed the thread with nothing but abuse at me and they are still a member and their posts remain even though in their 6 posts to date they done nothing but abuse me..... and (not being clever either) I think there'd be a lot of people left high-and-dry if I just stopped coming here - a lot of guys are half way through fighting with crdditors and the last thing they need is to have to start at square one again.....

The Mods need to realise that although long timer posters are no more superior, a lot of them do have something to offer and unless they prevent some of the abuse aimed at them they will lose the backbone of MSE which is its regular users.

Rant Over lol - hows it going by the way matey?

so please if you delete bats account you can happily bin me as well...

Agree with you both 100% - I'll join the revolt with you - delete mine as well. :)
    :o 2010 - year of the troll :o

Niddy - Over & Out

Couldn't agree more, many people, including myself, would be totally lost without the more experienced posters on here. Since I've been here I've seen them help many people through their debt problems. If the place was just left to the sanctimonious and their sycophants it would soon be empty.

It's a bit like the school yard tonight, we've even got the inadequate clingon, trying to gain a little online friend by following them around hanging off their every word, sad really.

icon1.gifThis Board Is For Help Not Judgement
    Dear MoneySavers....

This is a difficult board - many think bankruptcy too easy - and I dare say in some cases it is. Yet others have been through hell, seen family and home torn apart, and its a welcome and deserved release.

I didn't set up MSE to be personally judgemental, but to help people whatever their circumstances. If you have problems with the Bankruptcy laws then the 'Discussion Time' forum is the appropriate place.

This is to help people who are bankrupt rehabilitate their finances - and I personally wish them all the best - whatever their circumstances.

Many people who have gone bankrupt, have had serious debts, have hidden them for a time, been scared to confront them, suffered depression or have even had suicidal thoughts because of them.

So may I caution MoneySavers to err on the side of kindness. The fact bankrupts are here means they're looking for help, guidance and to take charge of their finances - and that in itself is admirable

Please use your knowledge and kindness to help rather than to berate.

If you feel it’s important to point something out that the poster may find negative but needs to understand, then it's not a problem, but do think carefully about your phrasing - people can be very sensitive and nuances may mislead when it’s in an online Forum.
