We have a user in the arms and dt who likes to wind people up and today he's posted an utterly vile comment to a mother who has a child with long term health problems. I can't quite grasp how some people can say things like that. But then knowing him...

I've just read that thread, and I agree with you.

On many threads - about politics etc - I have accepted his devil's advocate approach, and used it to explore my own views. Even when he has sailed very close to the wind.

On the thread you mention, his input was simply vile. And has persuaded me that I have been too kind in assessing his approach as 'devil's advocate'.

I suppose it would have been easier to see his true colours on a board like this which I read regularly. Although he might have been able to hide amidst the troll(s) frequenting this place

Let's call that a 'bump' too.

On another thread several weeks ago, he defended a policeman's actions in tazering a 10 year old girl. On another thread today he thinks that a mother who punished her son by forcing him to kill his own pet hamster, did nothing much wrong.

No, I agree with you. I tend to be more selective as to which threads I post in. Even on topics such as religion, politics etc where feelings run high, there is no need for anyone to get aggressive and abusive, and when trolls come in, it just gets hopeless.
