Lots of them about tonight so I felt the need to Bump
There is nothing deliberately hurtful about what I am trying to say, so your bump is completely unnecessary and just goes to show, on these boards.. if you aren't completely 'pro' bankrupcy, you aren't welcome.
Tragic. For all the people who go bankrupt at the advice on here. One day they will realise it:cool:0 -
A quick BUMP from me.....just a reminder...there is a place for certain comments to be aired. DT board for example.
AngiexxThis Board Is For Help Not Judgement
Dear MoneySavers....
This is a difficult board - many think bankruptcy too easy - and I dare say in some cases it is. Yet others have been through hell, seen family and home torn apart, and its a welcome and deserved release.
I didn't set up MSE to be personally judgemental, but to help people whatever their circumstances. If you have problems with the Bankruptcy laws then the 'Discussion Time' forum is the appropriate place.
This is to help people who are bankrupt rehabilitate their finances - and I personally wish them all the best - whatever their circumstances.
Many people who have gone bankrupt, have had serious debts, have hidden them for a time, been scared to confront them, suffered depression or have even had suicidal thoughts because of them.
So may I caution MoneySavers to err on the side of kindness. The fact bankrupts are here means they're looking for help, guidance and to take charge of their finances - and that in itself is admirable
Please use your knowledge and kindness to help rather than to berate.
If you feel it’s important to point something out that the poster may find negative but needs to understand, then it's not a problem, but do think carefully about your phrasing - people can be very sensitive and nuances may mislead when it’s in an online Forum.

Nobody here has, to my knowledge, ever actually advised anyone to declare themselves bankrupt.
The consistent advice of this board is that anyone with financial problems, no matter how severe, takes professional advice from one of the Debt Counselling Charities. If the advice of that Debt Charity is that 'Bankruptcy' is the best option for that person, then we will happily offer our support through what will, inevitably, be a difficult and often traumatic process. Any actual 'advice' given on this site would be on the actual 'working' of the process, and based either on our own experience or on documentary evidence from official sources, such as the Insolvency Service website - which, in itself, can be a daunting place for an inexperienced person who is, after all, facing probably the most traumatic situation of his/her life.
Martin LEWIS, as highlighted above, asks posters to use their knowledge to help rather than 'berate'.
You are, of course, entitled to your views, and, aired in the right place, they may find some support - but this is a 'support forum' and is not the 'right place'.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

A point that needs to be raised on her current DT thread - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1893147

Not sure if we have this thread over here on BR board but DFW bump this often so that newcomers new & old are aware of the possibility of `troll` issues.
They `bump` it along regularly to keep it in peoples minds. Perhaps it would work over here?
Pania`s words are so brilliant I could`nt better them myself so I copied as below.

Notice to newcomers re trolls.
Hi everybody.
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.
What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.
If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.
what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?
firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.
The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!
It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis
PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.
Kind wishes
P
