    Nope.
DAB signal in my house is flawless, but my Freeview signal is decidedly sketchier.
Easiest way to find out if DAB works in your house is to ask a friend to borrow a box.
If you can get a signal and have occasional dropout - it may be the freeview tuner. My first box (£20 from Asda) isn't a patch on my Topfield PVR (£200 at the time, possibly cheaper now) for picture and signal quality.

While all the ads say you need a new external aerial of a wideband type or whatever it is - my Topfield is connected to an internal aerial that was under £10 from Argos.
There's a "signal booster" in between that (another £10) and the receiver. Several people have told me a signal booster only helps with long cable runs, but it definitely gets me a more stable picture than without it, and the receiver signal meter agrees with me.

We have another TV in our living room running off an aerial (no boosters) that has probably been on the roof for 15 years if not more, and that's also fine.

    Good luck.

    Regarding Freeview
But this will not be the case for everone, differs by area/transmitter.
For some transmitters the digital signal will be out of band for the ariels which received analogue signal no problem in a given area
In such cases a new specific ariel or a wide band one will be reqd
You were just one of the lucky ones.
