As Citilink picked up the smashed up parcel and packaging but didn't allow you to see it after or during the investigation I strongly suggest you imply that they have something to hide.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Thought I'd give a quick update, sent letter off to Citylink and heard straight back from them from a very terse, unapologetic customer service lady who said they would revise the offer to £100 plus reimbursement of courier fees (although these have not yet been paid, we just need to get them written off), though stressing this is highly inrregular and any further transactions with them would be dealt with in accordance to their T&C's - I told her I wasn't happy and wanted the full reimbursement to which she said that was the absolute maximum she could offer. I was so tempted to take it further and consult a solicitor but I have so many other things going on at the moment that I decided to cut my losses and just know NEVER to use the company again!!
So thanks to all that contributed for your help, at least we got 3x what we were originally offered (if you include the courier fees) and while we are still out of pocket, I am glad we didn't just accept the £50.0 -
Antiquerose you don't need to use a solicitor to launch a small claims case. It's actually a waste of money.
Good luck with your next courier company and don't forget to tell your customers as part of the terms and conditions that they need to sign all deliveries "UnChecked" .I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Olly300, I think that was what put me off taking if further, that I didn't have the first clue how to go about taking them to court. Will definitely learn from this and advise customers accordingly going forward.0
