I use Windows XP SP2 with all the current updates installed (or all until this problem occurred, as now it won't connect). ISP is AOL
I don't use I.E. 7 much, so don't really know when this ocurred exactly, but within the last week or so I have upgraded to AVG 8.0 from 7 and installed a Netgear D834G wireless router with Netgear WG111V2 wireless adaptor, so I could link to a new laptop (which runs Vista Home Premium).
AOL, Opera and Firefox browsers all connect to the internet fine and no real problems, it's just IE7 which won't do anything.
I have tried reseting IE7, but it's just the same, it won't connect to anything, so I can't get updates and Google Earth won't work.
The laptop is fine and has the same programmes installed, so it looks like just a problem with this PC.
Any help would be appreciated and if it's techy stuff can you please be patient, as being a silver surfer I'm not that computer literate!!

OK, I managed to sort it out, I think.
It appears that IE7 was trying to use a proxy server under the LAN settings. No idea how that happened.
Off to do a virus scan
Thanks for looking0
