I'd like to know if any one has got one of these and if they are worth the money? They seem a bit pricey to me but I'm tempted to get one if they actually work.
  • I have made a few cakes in mine and never bothered to line the pan, just greased it. The cakes came out fine.

Have you tried cake release? I've never tried it in a bread maker, but it is the worlds most amazing non-sticky stuff in a normal cake tin, so it might be worth a shot :)

    Penny. here's the recipe.

    Butter 100g
    golden syrup 200g
    s/r flour 300g
    Baking Powder 1/2 tsp
    Ground Cinnamon 1/2 tsp
    Ground Cloves 1/2 tsp
    2 Eggs
    2 Tart Desert Apples, grated
    Stem Ginger,finely chopped 75g
    Demerara Sugar 1 1/2 tbsp

I dont do it in the Bread Machine anymore, its just as easy to pop it in the oven for about 55 minutes on 160.

Warm the butter and syrup until just melted

Sieve the flour, baking powder and spices into a bowl. Add the syrup mixture and the beaten eggs.

Add the the grated apple and the chopped ginger and mix well.

Thats it, stick it in the BM or the oven, after 55 minutes take it out and let it cool in the pan. It may need more time depending on your oven so as Delia says "stick a skewer in it" if it comes out slightly sticky then give it another 5 minutes.
  • I have an eight year old panasonic SD253. An absolutely brilliant machine, even taken it caravanning! However, after years of daily use the lining is coming off. You can buy replacements but they cost almost as much as a new but more basic model. Still using it to make dough but miss the versatility. Will try a lining as is cheaper than replacing the pan. Thank you.

I checked on Ebay and there is a panasonic SD253 for sale on there that looks in great condition, no bids and only £30. It may be easier to replace the maching than the pan.

    just a thought
