I have just ordered 1 of the toothbrushes and phoned to confirm that it should have been free delivery - when they have taken the money for p+p from my account.

After a conversation with quite a rude man i am getting my p + p refunded even though it is aparently not anywhere mentioned on the site about free delivery!!!! so he said .
I pointed out that it is at the top of every page but he still insisted i was looking at a different screen to him!!!

I phoned sonicare direct on the number that was on the website but the lady said they do not deal with web orders and gave another number to call ....

I rang the website for information about the different types of brushes and the very helpful girl said that they had reduced the prices but would charge p&p.

She also said that as it is coming up to Christmas there would be special promotions in various stores like Boots and Argos and I should shop around. She didnt seem to want to sell me a brush at all.
  • SONICARE ADVANCE £32.45 at amazon by the way have used Sonicare for three years it died the other day used a manual toothbrush and had LOADS of blood in my mouth seems like it was not cleaning my gums properly!!.Have switched back to Braun Oral B (gently!) and gums seem to have stopped bleeding also taking 3g vitamin c daily. On Sat night ended up talking to a dental nurse she said Braun weree the best she also had sonicare but binned it.Sonicare pay bigger incentives to Dentists to sell them.

    I didn't pay any postage.
I did get a radio, although I wasn't expecting one as it did say whilst stocks last or with certain purchases (or something like that)

Just thought I would add a couple of comments on this topic:

Shokadelika; electric toothbrush (ETB) manufacturers don't pay any incentives to dentists to promote their products. The best that they do is offer each team member the opportunity to buy an ETB at a heavily discounted rate. Thus, the dentist/hygienist/nurse etc can recommend the product, or not, having had personal experience of it. Like all products, the manufacturer may occasionally promote theirs with special offers via their wholsalers, from whom we buy the brushes for resale in practice.

My personal OPINION, is that the Oral B/Braun with the small circular head and rotating reciprocating action is the best ETB available. This is a broad statement, and there will always be people for whom a different brush is suitable. I have yet to meet one in years however! I have worked with hygienists, for whom I have the highest regard, who have mentioned anecdotally that they felt they had noticed more gum recession in patients routinely using the Sonicare, than other ETBs.

As far as the Oral B/Braun ETB goes, the only feature I would recommend is the rechargeable handle, and perhaps timer. Extra gimmicks like 3D action are just that. If you aren't brushing your teeth properley, then a 3D action won't make one jot of difference! In addition, the top of the range brushes with "Water Piks" are in my opinion a waste of money, and do little to improve oral health. There have been reports that these can actually prove to be detrimental to oral health.

FWIW Oral B have an all singing/dancing new ETB coming out around Feb next year. This may herald a slight drop in price of those models slightly lower down the foodchain...

Anyone purchased any replacement heads for the Sonicare 4000 range......... any good deals about??

I have seen pairs being sold on Ebay for £15 + postage, however some goods I have previously purchased from Ebay have proved to be counterfeit. Not sure I want dodgy brush heads. reliable sources please.
I save so I can spend.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Now I have had a braun small round ETB for about 5 years and its still seems to be fine - however one thing i do wonder about is whether to get a faster version as an upgrade. Can you recommend which model would be good for me if its best to have a fast speed version.

    Thank you!

PS I have a "Braun Oral-B AdvancePower 900 Solo Rechargeable Power Toothbrush" judging from the ones on amazon - surprised they are still selling it! Heres the full range on amazon at least:

If nobody's desperate for one, Boots did one this year. It was about 75% off their price. Not sure if it helps but there you go :)
