If the debt was for a mortgage and secured against the house, then i believe it is 12 years before it becomes statute barred. If you currently only have £100 available to put towards the debt, then bankrupcy may be an option.

I suggest getting in touch with one of the free debt charities to discuss the possible options - CCCS have a debt remedy form on their website that may offer an alternative, but i recommend discussing your situation with one of the charities first.

    Yes

6 years, not every company who applies for a CCJ against you is granted one, if you feel that a CCJ should NOT be granted, then attend court and give your reasons.

Nahhhhhhhh, they're have been many people on this board with much more debt, will the help from the members here, they've come through it, myself inclusive.

Yeh, that's the best part ;) :rotfl:

I really cant remember my last contact with this company.. but it may have been about 3 years ago- do you think i am best to wait it out again for the same tscales..then it will have been 6 yrs
once 6 years are up... how does this show on your credit file ?
what will happen if they pass thsi to another agency - can they send baliffs then to my parents ?
as they keep constantly calling my mum - will this continue for 6 years?

    Shouldn't do no...

However -trying to hide for another 3 or 9 years... good luck!
My honest advice is for you to speak to one of the debt charities in my signature - I think from what you have posted so far the nest option honestly would be going bankrupt - that is only based on what you have posted so far mind!

Even if they know where you are now... some DCAs won't be afraid to go and contact your parents or even their neighbours, eventually you will leave a paper trail too - hiding for 3 or 9 more years (and I'm betting it'll be 9...) just isn't likely and if they take out a CCJ on you then that could get extended if they apply again... Face up to it now rather than stressing for the next many years :)

To see your credit file, you need to provide your current address. Alot of DCA's start chasing debts after a credit report is requested by the owner.

These are the free debt charities normally recommended here. IVA is usually recommended to those with a property to protect from bankrupcy so may not be the best option for you.

If it were me, I'd deal with it now, it's not going to go away.

As I explained earlier, it shows you've had financial difficulties.

Nothing much, just another round of correspondence.
    law26 wrote: »

Depends how far down the chain the creditors/ DCA's pursue the debt.

Have your parents / family / friends ever acted a guarantor for you?
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

You need to do as much research as possible regarding an IVA, it’s a legally binding contract, and not so easy to get out of once you get into it.

One very important aspect regarding debts / IVA, never use a fee paying company, they cannot do anymore for you than the debt charities, take a look at my signature.
