Virus on my computer? what does this mean

I am getting a pop up constantly on the bottom right of my computer saying
A Virus has been found
The Anti virus was unable to disinfect this file. Run the virus scan to verify that other files on your computer are not infected.
I have the free version ofVirgin Broadband pc guard on my computer.
Help......i have tried doing a virus scan and it keeps saying 515 are affected.....can anyone tell me what is hould do. My computer is sooooo slow

The virus protection software should have the option to delete the affected files after the scan - or it will do it automatically.
Also, look at the sticky thread at the top of the site for free virus protection as you may need another kind, I haven't heard much about the virgin one so no idea how good it is, sorry
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
It dose not seem to be deleting them. can you have more than one programme for deleting them on your computer.i am so very un- techie. dont want to mess up the computer0

the virus was/is in a compacted zip file , just delete that file and then empty the recycle bin ( possibly something you downloaded ?? )Ex forum ambassador
