Credit Card advice for a beginner please

I basically wish to have 1 credit card - I intend to pay this off each time I make a purchase on it, and would only be used for the occasional purchase.

I currently have a debit card and the simple reason I'd like a credit card is for the occasional purchase from amazon.com (obviously they don't take a debit card) or if I purchased an expensive item in the future (I'd intend to only purchase this if I had the available funds and could pay it off within the month, but I understand it is more beneficial for insurance purposes/refunds to buy on credit card rather than the debit card? )

I've had a look into credit card guides, some of the information is alien to me, but I've gathered since I will be paying off the balance each month (or each time I use it) the 'benefit' of the interest rate does not so much apply to me, and to also find a no annual fee card.

Also, possibly a silly question but I'll ask anyway -
I'm wondering if a credit card would actually cost me anything extra than the amount of the purchase as I would be paying it off straight away? So, if you pay off the balance of the card when you receive your next statement, are you charged any fees for paying off the balance?

I've seen the below WWF card, would this be beneficial to me?

Any advice much appreciated for a credit card beginner, many thanks

Try barclaycard initial Visa, capital one classic or MBNA classic.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I only ever use my debit card for Amazon, never used anything else?
