Dell laptop - debit card ringfence expired

Options
Hey,

I figured MSE would be a good place to ask about this....

At about 1am on Friday, I ordered a laptop from Dell (Small business) with a debit card. My online banking immediately showed a difference between my balance and my available balance of the price I paid - indicating that the money had been ringfenced prior to being taken.

However, when I checked my online banking today, the ringfence has expired - that is, my account balance is now the same as my available balance, and they didn't take the money.

My bank say that nothing appears to be out of the ordinary.

Is this a usual thing with Dell, or are they going to call me at some point and tell me something braindead like 'your payment was declined' ? I'd call them, but the chances of me getting someone who knows whats happening are nonexistent, and the chances of generating a duplicate order are high - thats happened to a family member before.

So, is there going to be a problem here? Or is this normal?

They'll just use the authorisation code they got for the transaction to put it through when the computer is due to be shipped, make sure you keep the funds in your account otherwise it will take you overdrawn..

Annoying, but understandable. Thanks for the warning.
