Two reasons I can think off, one is it is summer, so no big gain from increase, plus no one wants to be the "first mover" with all the attendant bad publicityEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

All of the above, but mainly advance purchasing.
This is whymany of the smaller companies disappeared a few years back - they relied to heavily on buying energy 'on the day' and so were hit by massive rises in wholesale costs.
The papers are talking about the prices for the coming winter (higher demand = higher price).
This is also affected by the fact that the UK can support gas needs dduring the summer pretty much from its own resources, but need s to import (much more) in the winter.0 -
