12 Month contracts

I am with utility warehouse for my land line telephone. I used to be with them for gas and electricity too, until I moved and have kept only telephone with them. However they said I am in a 12 month contract with them since the 25th of march
2008, so I cannot move.

Considering what's happening with football players and their contracts, I wonder what obligation am I under to have to continue with them, i feel they are a lot more expensive now than what they were in the past.

I appreciate any help.

It would depend upon the terms & conditions of your contract, at a guess it probably means you are stuffed, as that is the purpose of a contract, not to stuff you but so that each side keeps to the agreement they willingly made

No idea about footballers, but I guess they have expensive agents & lawyers to ensure the contracts leave "wriggle room"

First off, i wouldn't try to compare football players & telecommunications. You're not focusing on the issue.

Just because the price isn't advantageous for you doesn't mean you can break your side of the agreement. Of course you can leave if you want, but you'll be liable to pay the remaining 9 months off of the contract - your call.

Ultimately you've agreed to use the service which constitutes the contract, if you don't like it, then pay it off or see out the contract & ensure in the future that you double check terms & conditions and get clarification of the contract lengths.

They have not followed BT and others and upped the price of geographical & ngn calls.Their prices have remained the same for yonks.

Its probaly due to the fact that by moving services away from them you lose your inclusive call bundles, and have to start paying for certain geographical calls.;)

As normanmark says, don't waste your time and ours, writing about footballers, it's irrelevant.

The only relevant thing is on what basis do they say that the contract started on 25 Mar 2008? And do you agree? If there is a new contract, then you must live with it, but if they have made that up, then you really must fight it.
