New black spot in diamond engagement ring

My husband purchased my engagement ring from a jeweller in Prague ("Prague Diamond") exactly 3 years ago today (a bit of a weird coincidence!!). 2 days ago we noticed that a tiny black spot has appeared inside the diamond. We have both checked in different lights and it des not seem to be a reflection. The diamond is a ?brilliant cut 0,13 weight, I2 diamond which is classed as "imperfect". However, this spot has never been visible until this week.

Obviously we cannot return it to the place it was bought and it is not insured. I assume I need to take it in to my local jeweller to be inspected. I was wondering if anyone had any idea about this and whether anything can be done?

If that's all you've got to worry about in your life then you're very fortunate!

FYI I have plenty to worry about in my life. I am simply asking for advice on this matter.

I would take it to an independent jeweler. Its a very important piece to you and I would have it checked out.

Thanks for providing a sensible answer. I will probably take your advice and go into a jewellers.

I have read a bit about inclusions and I get the impression that if it was an inclusion it would have been visible when we bought the diamond 3 years ago? Or can they "appear"?? Someone has said it could be a carbon spot, but not sure what that means.

when you bought diamond you bought it as imperfect, so it would have had inclusions, all diamonds do, unless the clarity is guaranteed.

I understand, but how come the black spot was not visible until now? It is very visible and I have looked enough times in the last 3 years to know it was not there before!! If I just have to ignore it then fine, but I would like to know that this is the case and th imperfection is meant to be there.

did you know what imperfection was in the diamond when purchased.

thread a white piece of paper through ring to look at diamond bringsup flaws.

I have a 1 carot bought cheap because of inclusion.

    get a valuation on ring

have you tried cleaning the ring? It could be some dirt or something that has got on the diamond and it looks like its in the diamond.
