It has been that price for several weeks actually as I keep uming and ahing over it! My husband called into the Lakeland in town and it was the same price in store so bought one.Heard the Shaggy Taxi Wind Up Phone Call?

I started doing this a few months ago with advice from the old style board where there is a lot of helpful info. What I do now is-put into the container 4 dess spoons of dried milk ( this makes it thicker so adjust to taste), 4 dess spoons of active yoghurt ( I start off with yeo valley or tesco's own version, unflavoured of course) and then fill up to the line with long life semi or whole milk. It has to be heat treated UHT stuff or it doesn't work, though apparently you can do that yourself too. Then fill the easiyo flask with boling water , put the container in and leave it overnight.I like the sound of this idea, any chance you can expand a little.
Thats it. For the next batch I keep some of the first batch, though I think you need to buy the odd carton of yoghurt to refresh it now and then.0 -
If you want to use non UHT milk then bring it to the boil and then let it cool to blood temp (cool side of luke warm) before adding live yoghurt and proceeding as mcallister1 describes. You can use full fat, semi or skimmed.0

Hi - do you know if you can use soya milk with this ?Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0

No I don't think you can as its the bacteria in the milk which make the yoghurt.
I might invest in another of the main white "canisters" - I was using mine all the time, then I dropped it on the floor and the inner layer cracked. Now when I fill it with the boiling water, it leaks into the vacuum flask bit and doesn't insulate as well, so the yoghurt doesn't quite "get there". have a drawer full of sachets from when they were 1/2 price at JG after christmas, so really should use them!0 -
Hi
The bacteria comes from the starter, so you can use whatever "milk" you wish!
I regularly make soya yogurt in my Easiyo. First of all I make a batch of Easiyo sachet natural yogurt. I freeze all of this and use it as starter.
In each new batch I use two tablespoons of starter, straight out of the freezer, and room temp soya milk. The iced starter defrosts quickly. I usually add half of cup of milk powder to give a thicker result. Shake it all up, boil and kettle and fill the Easiyo. Put the filled bit in and leave overnight. Simple!
I've used oat milk too - delicious but expensive.

Sorry to be getting back to you so late, Steve.I like the sound of this idea, any chance you can expand a little.
I have some gorgeous yoghurt in the fridge. Really sweet and delicious.
I poured a litre carton of UHT into my easiyo at room temperature. I added about 3/4 of a small tub of natural yeo valley full fat yoghurt and 3 tablespoons of dried milk, stirred it up, filled the flask with boiling water up to where the instructions recommend, then I left it for 8 hours. It seemed quite thin but thickened up quite nicely in the fridge.
It was my second attempt. My first attempt wasn't so good. Very runny. But I heated up the milk and I think it was too hot when I put the starter in.
Honestly, I can't believe how easy it is. My 4 year old did everything except putting the boiling water in.
I should say that I didn't use ALL of the milk in the carton. I put in most of it, added the other stuff, stirred it then topped it up to a litre. There was a little left over.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Can you add sugar/sweetner to make it...well...sweet? or do you add all that and fruit at the end?0

I've only made it with the sachets so far. although they aren't cheap I was buying probiotic yoghurt for my IBS at about £1.70 for 4 so at £2.49 a sachet which makes the equivalent of 10 small yoghurts it doesn't seem too bad to me. The main problem is not to eat too big a portion:rolleyes:
or then it does turn out expensive!;)
Have you tried buying the probiotic yoghurts at Lidl? They sell them 4 for about 65p. They have different flavours as well.
