Hi
I hope someone can help me out.
Mum (aged 76) and dad (aged 80 later this year) go on about 4 coach holidays within the UK each year, duration varying between 3 days and 7 days.
Does anyone have any recommendations for travel insurance companies, please?
Thanks

Why would they need to take out travel insurance for holidays in the UK? I think you'd find that the policy would cost more than the holiday because of their ages.0 -
I suppose they might want to take out insurance against cancellation in case of illness etc, or loss of suitcases, or extra costs if taken ill while away from home, but as you say the costs may well outweigh the benefits!
do the company running the holidays not offer insurance? - at least cancellation insurance, which is probably the only one I might worry about. I know that's often not the cheapest, but it gives a starting point - a 'price to beat' if you like. It also may not be the best, if you just tick a box and assume it covers everything, be aware that it may well NOT cover pre-existing medical conditions, which you might need to phone up to declare.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My possessions are covered by my normal home contents insurance even though they're out of the house - I've claimed a couple of times. So, what with the NHS (hopefully) covering any sickness or accident which might occur, I would have thought the only thing which travel insurance would need to cover would be cancellation and most hotels are OK about this if you give at least 24 hours notice. Don't know about coach tickets though.0

Thanks everybody for the replies.
My parents have been buying travel insurance from Wrightsure Insurance Services via the coach company (Travelstyle).
I've only just seen the policy and I think they are paying for a lot of things that are not necessary, including £2m for medical & other expenses and loss of passport (which they don't even have!).
For a weekend they paid £17.90 insurance.
They both have pre-existing medical conditions which I don't think they've declared so I think the policy would be declared invalid in the event of a claim.
I'm going to check out their contents insurance and have a chat with them about whether it's really worth buying insurance in the future.0 -
I really don't think it's worth their while and certainly, not declaring pre existing conditions will invalidate it. Cancellation cover can be worth having but for people of your parents' age, cancellation is most likely to be because of illness and if it's illness that's pre existing then they wouldn't be covered by that anyway. Tell them to save their money.0
