Is the wireless card in the computer or is it a usb? Make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware for you wireless card(driver) and the router(firmware). If its a card you put inside the computer make sure the little aerial at the back hasn't fallen over.Has anything been installed, uninstalled, moved or changed in some way since last week?0

WiFi , like any other Radio device is subject to RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) from different electrical devices/appliances, e.g. Microwave Ovens kill WiFi as they operate in the same frequency band around 2.4GHz, DECT Mobile phones e.g. the type used around the house plugged in to your land line and if a neighbour has a WiFi router/access point near by and if it is on the same or near by channel it will interfere with your friends setup, I have encountered this several times before, so tell your friend to go into the router setup screen and change the channel as a first step, change it to channel 10 which is 2.572GHz which well out of they way of the common channel 6, if you need any assistance on changing the channel please feel free to ask as there will be plenty of help from MSE'rs on here.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
I had the same problem with an older laptop, and I turned off the Wireless Zero Configurator. That solved the problem.
