Is balance transfere a cash advance?

Firstly sorry if this question has been asked before.

If you make a balance transfer from one credit card to another is it classed as a cash advance?
I ask because i am just going through my SAR from Alliance and Leicester Credit card (want to claim back penalty charges) and i have never ever used the card for purchases just balance transfers and there is a bunch of different types of interst added. Could you pease tell me what the following mean:-
Posted Cash Advance Interest
Posted Retail Interest
Special Cash Interest
Other Interest

No a Balance tansfer is not a cash advance, it will either be charged at 0% if you have that offer , or it will be at the standard rate of your card?

Thanks for that clio, but do you or anyone have any idea why they are putting cash advance interest on account? detailed interest reads:-
