Help connecting a computer to wireless network please?!!!

Options
I'm not very techie and I'm after some much needed help please!

I've got wireless connection at home (through a BT homehub) that my laptop connects to (wirelessly - obviously!) but we've just also been given a desktop computer that we want to connect to the internet as well.
It has come with a wireless router box (netgear? ) but I cannot figure out what to do to get it connected to our wireless network! There is not a phone line in the room where the computer is but I dont know if this matters.

I've tried plugging in the router to every port in computer but really have no clue what I'm doing or what needs to connect to where! Does the router box need to be connected to a phone line? I'm so confused how it all works with the homehub. I naively thought it would be as easy as plugging it in a hey presto! But apparently not!

Any help on how to connect it all up and sort it ut would be really appreciated!

the Netgear router is not needed, as the other poster says you need to connect it directly to the hom hub via ethernet, or purchase a wireless usb adapter

Or a ethernet over power adapter, but since wireless is already there, no point really!

Thank you both! Problem sorted - bought a wireless router and now happily online! You are stars!

You mean wireless adapter, right? A router would have done you no good at all.

a card that goes into the back of the computer looking like this..

Or, if you fancy something cheap.. then maybe a wireless usb dongle..

Both of these would do the job nicely, not one of these..

    no need.. :)

If you have the netgear router going spare, put it on ebay - they are good quality and sell new for about £80.00.

You could always keep it as a spare of course, in case your home hub breaks or you move to a different broadband provider.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
