Thanks for the warm welcome. I wish I didn't have to be here (if you know what I mean) but it's good to be amongst company!

I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but I sat and read Scarlett's diary last night, all 15 or so pages! After reading about the IPA/IPO, I have a question.

My H is self-employed and for the first time in 7 years together, he is out of work at the moment. Once he is working again, will they allow for a certain amount of saving from monthly wages, to accommodate potential times out of work? Five years ago, I would never have thought he'd not be working but with the economy being so utterly screwed at the moment, this is a very real concern for us now.

Sorry for the random musing but I have been wondering about this.

Hi MrsST and welcome. I hope all goes well with CCCS or NAtional Debtline and you are able to get through tomorrow! You will feel much better once you know all your options. You may not think so now but you will be able to sleep once again - we all go through those sleepless nights! It does no good blaming yourselves or each other for the situation you're in - its happened now just look forward. You will be okay!

    Hi Mrs ST

    Welcome to the boards.

I just wanted to say that I have been in your position, and you are possibly at the hardest moment. Once you've got the information, made the decision and know where you are going, you will feel much better. It isn't easy, but it will be much better in a few months time when you are not worrying all the time.
    Take care and keep posting

I seem to remember this question coming up last year and if I remember rightly they allow for your tax but don't allow for future non-wages. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I'm sure that even if you get an IPA, if he is not working it can be reassessed. Also you won't have the debt to worry about servicing when he's not working.
