I want to run 136 miles for charity...!!!
Options
Hi all, well, I have been looking for something 'big' to do for my chosen charity, Cancer Research UK. My mum finished chemo & radio therapy in March this year and in May I ran the 5k Race For Life. I must be fit, it was a doddle! I raised £250. I have signed myself up for the 10k Run in September but I want to do something HUGE - I love running, when I have a goal!
So, I'm planning my own 'North Run' - Coast to Coast, Scarborough to Blackpool! Approx 136 miles over 3 days! I want to raise £1000 minimum
I need ideas though - do you think I'll get on local TV? Should I record a video diary? How long will I need to train? Do you think I can blag 2 free hotel rooms en route? Can I apply to Guinness World Records and get my time recorded as a first?

Hi KittyKate,
You certainly sound very healthy indeed and I'm positive you really could do a lot of good with all your energy! Try the DFW Running Club thread here
Good luck.

One of the first things you should do is set up a website, join justgiving and as for the video diary you can do that as a blog.0

Wow - that's 45 miles a day on 3 consecutive days. Good luck to you, it would be an amazing achievement.
I'm sure you will get media coverage and plenty of sponsorship for this kind of thing including hotel rooms.
Good luck with the training...0 -
My OH ran the London marathon this year, and he is a super-fit police officer, and he was pretty tired after it! He did 10 miles the next day but don't think he could do 45 miles on 3 days running (in fact not sure he could do 45 miles on one day!). If you can run this far, then perhaps you should look into running clubs, as they would love to have someone as fit as you.
How do you maintain such a level of fitness?
I like to think I am fit but I only do half marathons every once in a while. I am pretty sure I couldn't go from a 5k race for life (which I am doing in 3 weeks) to a 45mile run on 3 days!
Well done if you can do it!
PS do you plan to run or walk this?0
