Just make sure before you sign up for the gym membership you read the contract.

Most gym membership contracts expect you to pay for the full 12 months, you can not normally terminate the contract early without paying up the remainder of the contract.

My advise is only sign up if you are sure you are going to go to the gym 2-3 times a week all year, if not use local council facilities as it tends to be cheaper.

Have you thought about asking them for a trial session to see if its for you. Not everybody enjoys going to a gym. What about swimming its a good form of exercise. Does the gym have a pool?

If you have a Cannons near you then you could use Nectar points for what must be one of the few decent offers on the nectar programme. For 4 vouchers or 1000 points, the equivalent of £10 to spend in Sainsburys, you can get 1 month premium membership for 2 people. You can repeat this 3 times with a month in between, at the Cannons near me.
Hope this helps-Cannons have lovely pools and showers...
