I have done over 20 assignments for GAP in the last few weeks and apart from one burger job when they told me I wouldn't get paid as I had forgotten to ask for the meal as a "Value Meal" I have heard nothing on any of the others. I still haven't got paid for the two jobs I did at the end of May so hoping they get paid this month. I e-mailed once and they came back to say that there looked like there was no problem but I've e-mailed again and again to no avail. Any idea what to do or if I have heard nothing do I take it that everything is OK?

Am I being particularly dim here? Maybe I'm just out of practice with job applications etc., but I signed up with Grassroots and that was fine except they never seem to have any jobs.

I've been working my way down the list in the opening post here but they all seem so complicated. Firstly, most of them want my phone number and I'm not comfortable putting that in at this stage - I'd rather just communicate via email. Can't help it, but I'm a bit suspicious because it's all online, and I don't want to end up getting marketing phonecalls.

One of them wanted 2 referees, and I can't think of anyone to put - I haven't worked for over 2 years.

Another couple wanted a photo - well, I don't have any recent pics of me anyway, but certainly none on the computer.

Another one doesn't even have my county on their list of locations.

I just feel like they are all making it so difficult. Can anyone reassure me about putting in my phone number and picture please? Any thoughts on referees, or should I just forget about registering with that site?

If I'm going to go through all this hassle (or at least it seems like hassle to me), is it even worth it? Do any of these companies give work out in my area - north east?

I'm near your area and have also never seen jobs for here on Groots. Are you registered with either GFK or Bare as they definitely do more northern jobs?

You have no need to worry IMHO. JFK are one of the most reliable companies out there.They pay quicker than most. And you can check a few days afterwards on their site what you have been paid for. There is a drop down menu on your home page detailing your jobs, dates and payment.

Are you getting a fee too Teedy. You see I would have said if you are so desperate are you prepared to pay a decent fee for the report.

After all the company aren't getting from their client merely the cost of a meal.

BP, thanks for that. I'll make a note to try GFK and Bare tomorrow. Just seems a lot to go through if they don't even have jobs in my area, so I appreciate you helping to narrow the field a bit!

Bare was a bit of an awkward one - they wanted a phone number as dialled from abroad! I wouldn't know where to start! Then they ask for my height in metres and my weight in kgs!!! I'm still imperial so I haven't a clue! And finally they ask for postcodes I'm willing to work, which again seems a bit odd as there would be loads of endings for each TS23 postcode, then the same for each TS18, or TS8, TS7 etc - surely you don't have to enter each one? I assume it won't just accept TS18? I think I tried that and it wouldn't.

With bare the area codes they ask for are aimed at American audiences - so you can leave them blank.

Your phone number from abroad is +44 then your phone number without the leading 0 so mine in Leeds is +44 113 xxxxxxx

As for photos - I take it that is for RE - I have not uploaded a photo and have done dozens of jobs for them, so i wouldn't worry about that

They do email you when jobs become available in your area but you need to be quick off the mark.
