Shopping treated as cash advance?

I'd like to use my Mastercard credit card (issued by HSBC) to shop (not online) at supermarkets such as Morrisons. I'm wondering whether such transactions will be treated as cash advance?

I think that only cash withdrawls, gambling transactions, some CC cheques, and foreign currency purchases are treated as cash advances.You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
Gift vouchers from some stores with some card providers have also been reported as being billed as cash advances. I've been advised not to get cashback when purchasing goods in a supermarket on a CC, (if it's even possible on a credit card?) but the local Post Office put a £10/£20 stamp through for me occasionally (and give me the cash) and charge it to my card, it's quick free cash so if you know some people in a post office it's convenient.

On the cash withdrawal point yep, I've done it a few times, in effect you could get your own chip and pin and max. out the card straight away to...re-invest...the money for a few % fee (but I'm not advising that).
On the cash back bit I'm not 100% sure as I've never dared try it, but it's best to be safe than sorry I suppose!0
