I don't think there is a straight answer at the moment - not everyone appears to be receiving letters and no real reason appears forthcoming as to why you get the charge or not (I have been selected for £25 charge on MBNA Beyond). As I note on another thread, they are still advertising no fee (including Virgin) therefore you may have to wait to see what happens, unless someone else can specifically answer on Virgin card.

  • Has anybody been hit with a charge within their first year?

The reason I ask is that if you joined within the last year under terms that said "No annual fee", I think you wold have a fair complaint if they tried to charge a fee within the first year. After that, they would be within their rights to introduce one. So perhaps it is only being applied to customers who have had their card for more than a year?

I do not think anybody with a Virgin card has had the letter so far.

Like any good journalist, I am sure Martin is already onto them asking for a statement. Hopefully we will hear something soon?

As I stated on another topic on annual charges. It is called BAIT, HOOK, SWITCH and TWIRL. A system used by back street hucksters and loan sharks. difference is these guys run around in Armani Suits and Lear Jets.

Hard times are coming down for those who cannot pay their balances off in full and dump these cards RIGHT NOW.
