Direct Car Insurance - A Warning

On Sept 24th my son completed an application over the internet for car insurance. On Sept 29th the insurance documents had not arrived. We contacted Direct Line and were told that due to a problem with the internet our application had not been processed. The Direct Line representative confirmed to us that no policy had been created for us. We then placed the insurance with another insurer as we thought that not notifying us that the application had failed was not good customer service.

Anyway today, Oct 5th, we 've received policy documents from Direct Line and they've debited my credit card. They've agreed to refund the premium once we return the legal documentation.

Anyone using their internet site for an insurance application may want to confirm with them over the phone that the policy has been accepted.
Waddle you do eh?
