4od unable to remove from startup

I downloaded the 4od program so that I could watch programmes more than 7 days old, but it keeps appearing at startup.
I have removed it using CCleaner, and msconfig, and it comes back every time! Apparently it edits something in the registry to keep it re-adding itself. I'm more techie than most, but I don't know enough to mess around with the registry unless I'm sure I won't break something.
Any ideas?

Go here http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml and download Startup Monitor and install it.
Everytime 4OD or any other program tries to put an entry in the start area of the registry, it will ask you if you want to allow it. If you say "no" then it will not be added and will not auto-start next time you start Windows.

sounds like you'll be better of without it all together
check this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=969645&highlight=4od

The last time I looked (and I'm not looking again!), kontiki ran as a service, which you'll need to disable.
Right click my computer, select Manage.
Select Services and Applications => Services
Find the kontiki entry.
Right click and select Stop
Right click and select properties
Change the startup type (which is probably set to Automatic) to either MANUAL or DISABLED).
Click OK
Manual means it should be started when you launch 4od; disabled will permanently cripple it until you go back in and reenable it.
Or remove the entire application using the aforementioned kontiki removal tool.te audire non possum. musa sapientum fixa est in aure.0 -
Thank for links I could do with removing 4OD anyway as never got it work anyway (DRM problem) and I do not need Iplayer very often so could do without doing something at startup. Can't really watch Iplayer streaming as too slow.
Read the threads about Kontiki - not a problem as have nothing downloaded.
After reading above info I found myself here : http://odmonitor.blogspot.com/
which does this
TV On-Demand Monitor
The TV On-Demand Monitor utility allows you to switch iPlayer and/or 4oD and/or Sky Anytime off at the click of a mouse and stops them sharing your Internet0 -
Thanks. It is very sneaky and suspect! Reminds me of the Sony Securom software, we are having fun with that over at my favourite sims 2 forum.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0
