:rotfl: i checked my egg statements on line and discovered that i had been charged more interest in june than in may even though the balance was lower in june.
i phoned egg yesterday to query it and was told that the increase was because of the number of days in the month so i said so it £1.10 per day then the agent said yes (the fool) at that point i had to hang up cos my children where crying and i needed to deal with them
i am currently on the phone to them to find out why if as the agent said it was £1.10 per day why was i getting charged £75 per month rather than £35. (i should be paying £2.44 per day) so the amounts i am being charged are correct but as i keep saying to them if i was in a shop and a bottle of perfume was priced at £5.99 but was really £59.99 the shop would have no choice but to sell me the perfume at £5.99 and as cc are covered by the consumer act then they should follow this too. they agree that they are covered by the consumer act too.
So i' am just off the phone and it has had to go to their complex team to see if we can resolve this matter but (what a surprise) the complex team aren't in till tuesday.
will keep you up dated on this so go check your statements see if you can get them to say the amount per day is less than what it should be and give them a ring its funny to see them skirm:rotfl:
lets see what happens
i will keep you informed

Actually no, a price is called 'an invitation to treat', and providing it was a genuine mistake, the shop would not have to sell it to you at a price that was a mistake. If the shop was doing it underhandly to get poeple in, it would be a different matter.
Sorry for being pedantic!
Good luck with getting it sorted anyway.0 -

Incorrect there is nothing to make a store sell at the price is shown; the price is an invitation to buy. Most stores as goodwill will charge the lower price but there are many cases when 'cockups' have occured and they have not. Think Tesco advertised a tv at £1 when should have been £1000. They didnt go through with the sales with the customers0 -
How annoying is their telephone system, the system kept saying it's couldn't understand my northern accent when I was saying my name, DOB etc. I was so mad when I eventually got through to someone.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

If the item was priced at £5.99, but you were charged and paid £59.99 for it thus completing a contract with the company then you would be within your rights to claim a refund of the difference.0

I think you should stop "saying (that) to them", because I think you're wrong.iwanttosavemoney2008 wrote: »...as i keep saying to them if i was in a shop and a bottle of perfume was priced at £5.99 but was really £59.99 the shop would have no choice but to sell me the perfume at £5.99
The £5.99 price is an 'offer to trade', not an 'offer to sell'.
Ergo, they would have every "choice" to charge you £59.99 at the till.
EDIT: Spent too much time googling!

The problem arises in that if they advertise the article at £5.99 and it then scans at £59.99 then they (the retailer) have a choice - sell it at the lower price, or refuse to sell it at the lower price in which case they should remove the rest of the stock from sale until they can update their display prices with the higher price (I think it's a section in the Trade Descriptions Act 196odd somewhere). If they charge you the higher price and have displayed the lower price then they are, technically, breaking the law and can be reported to your local Trading Standards office. Although, how many times have I been to Tesco, etc and found I've been overcharged for various items - then is it worth the bother for a few pence to trail all the way back across town? Bet they bank on the lethargy......I digress...sorry.0

This is the reason I always check my receipt whilst I am in the shop and if I notice I will claim my money back. I also check whilst items are going through the checkout and if I notice a discrepancy I mention to the SA, unless I'm in Asda of course I wait til after I've finished so I can claim my £2 gift card.0
