What do people think - is it worth going to Mexico for just 10 days? Or does it require a longer stay to make the trip worthwhile?
And if anyone has been please could you tell me how much I should expect to pay for a (probably package) holiday in Mexico? I plan to go with my partner.
thanks

10 days is ok,however in my opinion like most things u get what u pay for.We have stopped at the Moon Palace and have recently booked the Riu Palace Las Americas and it has cost us 3K for two weeks All in Inc.I thing u need to do an all in inc because it is very expensive to eat and drink0

it depends on what you want to do when you are there, if you just want to sit on the beach then only you will know if 10 days is enough, if you want to go out and about and see stuff then I 10 days is enough but I think 14 would be better, there is loads to see and do from the mayan ruins to places like xel-has (which is a must do BTW) to zip lining in the jungle etc.
I would suggest that somewhere like Playa del carmen is a good place to base yourself, it's not as big and brash as Cancun but still has some shops etc.
as for the cost, this depends on if you are going AI, when you are going and what star rating you want but I would put a ball park figure on an AI in peak time with a star rating of 4 will cost you probably a grand each upwards0 -
I returned from Mexico last night after 7 Days at the Moon Palace. We had a great time a week is fine but i would say its a long flight for a week. That said I paid £1900 for a week it would have cost me £3200 for 2 weeks its what you can afford at the time...have a great time0

Mexico is a big country! To say it is expensive to eat and drink is not strictly true - it is expensive to eat and drink in the big Americanised resorts.
I travelled there independently as a backpacker and found it very cheap to eat and drink.
It depends what you want out of a holiday, if you want a beach holiday or to be a bit more independant and view the sights?
It also depends how quickly you get over jet lag as to whether a week is long enough - many people travel the same distance for a few days for work or to visit family, but for a holiday it needs to be less stressful. IMO ten days is fine for that level of jetlag/flight time.0 -
I've been around Mexico (Mexico City, Guadalajara, Patzcuaro, Puerta Vallarta, Morelia etc) and can thoroughly recommend it.
If you have ten days, then take ten days, but don't waste it! Get out and see some of the country....it's seeping wih history and there is loads to take in.
The pyramids at Teotihuacan are a must (as is drinking lots of tequila). We also stopped in the town of Tequila for a day......(well, it had to be done
 lol)
btw......eating and drinking in Mexico is as cheap as chips!!!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I go to Mexico at least once a year and usualy just for a week. We treat ourselves to an upgrade on the plane and find that means we don't need a day or so to recuperate from the flight.
I love it there, it has the best of everything. It has the beaches and atmosphere of the Caribbean, yet the service of the USA. So if you order something it arrives whereas we found things were quite hit and miss in the caribbean even when staying 5*.
Go and see some sites though, lots of accessible days out using local guides or tour companies and well worth doing, cheap as well. If you like adventure type parks there are a few of them as well where you can see native animals and also snorkel, or swim.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. We went for a week and loved it - premium flights are good as it's a really long flight, even to me as a regular flyer to Florida.
We stayed in Playacar at the Iberostar tucan, we paid £2500 for the 2 of us, upgrading the flight cost £450 but with First choice, even the economy cabin is good.
I would say that if all you want is to lie around the pool all day, there are cheaper places like the D.R. but if you like to get out and about, Mexico is great - Chitchen Itza and Tulum are amazing."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
            thanks everybody!0
