    Just bare in mind that if its smashed windows etc it's often done for the minutest value theft, ie the change in the ash tray etc, or quite often mindless vandalism.

    I bought a car once that showed obvious signs of being broken into. The owner related the following story to me;

    He and his wife worked at Leeds Uni and had to park the car on the city centre back streets. Now anyone who knew the area at this time knew it as the car crime capital of the north. It was broken into several times so eventually he didn't replace the radio, just left the hole, rmoved the rear parcel shelf to give a clear view of the empty boot, and left the glovebox open to prove it empty. He even left a card propped up on the dash stating "there is nothing of value to steal in this car"

    One day he got back to the car to find a side window smashed, the card had been turned round and written on the back were the words "just checkin"

    :confused::confused::confused: Just how do you combat that mentallity:whistle: :whistle: :whistle: :whistle: :whistle:
    I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • best thing you can do is just leave nothing on show with the glove box open in a well lit area. All my mates go on about car alarms but by the time the little drugggy has smashed your window or broken your locks its too late. I always find parking near people who leave stuff in their car etc helps. If i was going to break into a car it wold be into one where i could actually see something to take rather than one where there is nothing

    an alarm is only really usefull if the car is within earshot and you stand a chance of running out to brawl with the thief
  • also an approach i take when i goto the beach etc is to alarm the car but leave it unlocked, theres nothing in there to take and i would much rather someone open the door and havea look round than force the lock and have a look around

    if your car got stolen, the insurance company would most likely refuse to pay out if they found you'd left your doors unlocked.
