The website still says 3.5p per minute for UK Mobiles (Sat/Sun), but I noticed this morning that the recorded announcement says 4p.

  • Yes, I have heard the same message, which I think I will assume is correct. I hope it doesn't also mean that we will get a shock on Monday and find that weekday calls have gone up too.

It wouldn't surprise me. You'd think they could manage to make the message match the website.

The website says tariff msg overides web page so 4p it is.
If you use the 0208 or 0808 access numbers for 18185 it is still 3.5 p though.

1899 also still charge 3.5 p at weekends.

Thanks for pointing that out. For reference it says:

The advertised tariff is different than the tariff message. Which one is correct?

The tariff message played before each call is always correct. It is possible that the tariff message differs from the charges on our website or other publications due to special offers. In these cases, the free tariff message is always the correct tariff.

I'm not quite sure how 'special offers' comes into it in this case though!

    As does 18866.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
