Ebay too greedy. Should Martin start up an auction site????

I am so sick of ebay mega high fees & from reading all these links ebay really do not deserve the popularity they have as they take the money from sellers but dont back them up like they should) and its the only site really everyone goes to to auction nowdays.
I have just been charged £65 by ebay for sales where 2 bidders bid on the same car(re listed) and changed their minds before seeing it & ebay take so long refunding that they are going to take that money from my credit card before refunding me.
So, here is my idea. There are loads of websites trying to be like ebay but they dont succeed but i reckon that if Martin set one up it could end up rivaling ebay as so many people trust this site already & Martin is so fair (i wouldnt expect it to be a free website but not like greedy old ebay). So whos for Martin setting up an auction site??? (maybe Martebay!).Would you use his instead of ebays?

Mandles this was discussed to death last month, I'd refer you to the thread but I can't remember what it was called and it wandered a bit all over the place.

There are plenty of other auction sites, virtually none have even a tiny fraction of the users on ebay and they tend to fade away after a while. There is no way that a site like this could even begin to expand into auctions, the man power needed would be enormous.

The choice really is ebay or nothing, try a few of the other auctions sites, I think several regulars on here are trying ebid at the moment. If anyone does get any real success on another site I'm sure we will hear about it in time, meanwhile, we will have to stick with ebay.

    *sigh* Discussed this at length....
Unfortunately the posts were locked or deleted.

Have set up a SwapShop Forum though
  • I think a swap shop is a brill idea.
It would be especially helpful to people with children coz they grow out of the baby items like bouncer seats and moses baskets soooo quickly then you need to buy all the things for the next stage, high chairs, baby walkers etc then they grow out of those sooooo quickly, lol it's endless!! So a swap shop would be great to help out those at different stages and ages of little ones!!
I shall be having a look!

Looking at "eBid.tv" which was mentioned on this forum few days ago when they had a special offer. They seem to have a reasonablly large customer base (obviously nothing compared to eBay but might have the potential). :p
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

there is another new auction site that had just gone up, no listing fees, no final value fees the only fees are for enhanced listings like homepage featured

    http://www.ebash.co.uk/

obviously it is still fairly empty but it has just opened.
