Free software to design a CD cover?

Hello

I am in a band (which is admittedly not that good) and we are currently recording a CD.

I'd like to design the cover myself - does anyone know some nice free software which might be suitable?

I don't think we'll be using Jewel cases, and probably just need to design CD inserts rather than a big booklet or anything! Somthing that can be printed on one piece of A4 paper, and then trimmed.

One way of doing it might be to look up the dimensions of the inserts you require (sorry I don't know off the top of my head), then using MS word or something like that, either make the page that size or make a text box that size and design your insert on that.

I just use Word for mine, I split the page do both sides and fold over.

There are templates available free from Decadry for Word but I have not used them for cd inserts.

nero (cd burning software given free with many cd/dvd drives) has a free cover designer app.

Open source DTP. It's considerably more involved than any CD cover software and if you haven't used DTP before than it will take a little getting into; but it is much more versatile and can be used for much more than CD covers.
