Well, a bit of seriously good news in the post today. After just the initial letter from Martin's template, Northern Rock have agreed that I was indeed mis-sold the PPI on my car loan, and they will be refunding all monies paid with interest on top! :j I can't work out an exact figure - what they have given me is wrong as it's based on the loan still being outstanding, but I'm reckoning somewhere about £700 which is fantastic! Just goes to show - anyone who's thinking about reclaiming and not doing it - get off yer backside and go for it! I feel like running round the place whooping at the moment I'm sooooo chuffed!

MrEH called Northern Rock re the mortgage OP's today too - another £50 per month going on those from Feb 1st, so that means that as I said in the 2008 summary post we have achieved our annual target for increasing OP's to 25% already! A good start to the year. I was starting to feel a bit negative about things to be honest - after the mad push last year to get the loan paid off it all felt a bit flat and "why am I doing this" after that was cleared.....I feel properly back on track now though and ready to start throwing as much money as I can into that savings account! I love seeing those figures creeping up!

The spare room decorating is coming along really well - we have one wall still to rub down, base coat and then two coats of the top paint and the walls are all done - just the coving to sort out and get up. My friend won't recognise the room when she comes to stay the weekend after next! :rotfl:

Good news indeed! You lose nothing in trying other than a bit of time, you could miss out on a lot if you don't.

Ugh - yep! MrEH did the pollyfiller and sorted the holes out as soon as he got in from work this evening - once we've done watching QI we'll finish sanding down and then hopefully get the basecoat on tonight. MrEH is playing rugby tomorrow and I'm out from late afternoon and overnight as I'm out for a meal with a group of friends. However, I should be able to first coat with the yellow paint before I go, and he will do the second coat when he gets in from the match. Hopefully I should be back reasonably early on sunday and we'll then go to B&Q for the coving. Not looking forward to putting that up!

SMF2 - you're not wrong - I spent half the day at work with a silly grin on my face. Easiest money I've ever made!
