  • Mortgage statement arrived...finally! We're just £29.09 shy of going sub 92k! Spreadsheet updated now (there is an issue with one of the formulae so it's always a few ££'s out by the time each statement arrives!) and all in all a positive end to the year!

EH, great summary and good to see that the progress has OH on board too.

If you need some motivation, run two mortgage sheets side by side, one based on the minimum payments and changing interest rates over time (do keep these recorded as you can plot the change over duration, we didn't so can "only" see the saving from the present to end vs. due date) then the "true" one showing your actual progress. This should give you plenty of motivation, plus a few small items along the way?

Well done on reaching that £92k :T
  • Well done EH - congratulations on paying off your loan and reducing the mortgage to 92K :T

    Happy new year to all!

Thanks to some inconsiderate wotsit whacking the drivers side mirror off the car while we were down in Devon, the savings are going to take a £125 hit. Bit of a blow that, but can't be helped and I'd rather get it done sooner than later - the "held on with gaffer tape" look is soooooo last year! :rotfl: I have however managed to get sufficient wrapping, christmas cards and gift bags reduced in price over the last few days to ensure we won't need any for next year at all - and this evening is going to be spent converting some of this years cards to gift tags, and also making a start on a couple of birthday cards I need to make for people coming up too. The freezer is absolutely chock-full at the moment and at long last we've remembered to do a full inventory of it so this months eating will be done as far as possible from that source. The supermarket will be needed for basics like milk and a bit of fresh fruit and veg, but total Tesco spend this month should be well down, which is good as the more we amass in the CLubcard Plus account, the more there is to be taken out when we go away at easter. :T

Got to get Mr EH organised to ring Northern Rock in a few days and up the OP by another £50....I also have to get onto the online banking and sort out the money movements to account for both that, and the loan not going out now.
