I HATE opodo.co.uk

I'm having MAJOR problems trying to book flights with this site (opodo.co.uk) and was wondering if anyone can help me out?

I am trying to book flights from Glasgow- Chicago
7-14 october (dates are flexible though)

now i have noticed that the prices have gone between £364-380-480 and at time of posting this have gone up to £500 in the space of minutes:confused:

now i have searched without logging in first (as this seems to raise the price)
*i then select the flights that i want
*click add, so that they are in my basket
*press checkout
*then on the sign in options page , i choose i'm registered and log in
*then confirm passanger details are correct and then click continue

however as soon as i do this an error message comes up, looking like there is nothing in my basket, and i have to search again
by which time the flight price has gone up:mad:

has anyone had similar problems with opodo  and could maybe give me some advice, as i refuse to pay an extra £100 on a flight that "should" be available to buy cheaper

thanks for taking the time to read this

Have you tried an alternative e.g. Expedia?

why not book direct with continental for £473
    or with KLM for £462

maybe opodo has an old price, it checks, it goes up, because that is what the price is now... someone else could have bought the last cheap ticket, and that is all there is...

or book 14th - 21st October, again with the airline direct (KLM) and get a price of £390

unless you only want to use opodo and whinge about them.... :)

I've always thought Expedia were dearer than Opodo

i found that opodo has different prices to anyone else, and are normally more expensive..

i also find that expedia is normally £10 more expensive than booking the flight direct with the airline..

(this is based on plenty of UK - USA TATL trips!)

don't know if this is any use in light of the actual problem, but i once saw a tip on here about deleting cookies before returning to flight booking sites that you are checking. the tip was that these sites recognise you if you are regularly checking, and keep upping the price to worry you into booking.

i tried this recently with the travelodge site. having seen a room for £29, a few days later it was $80+. i deleted my cookies, tried again, and it was back to £29.

obviously this won't help with the error message, but re the price increasing it might be worth a shot whichever site you use.

    OP must have been unlucky.

Last week I booked return flights through Opodo to Virgin Islands that were about £80 less than anywhere else at the time. (BA/Iberia/AA out and AA/AA/AA back). Agree with prices continually changing though - very annoying. I'd been watching for a couple of days and all sites were around the £820-850 mark then left pc for 3hrs, came back and Opodo came up with £766 (+credit card fee), needless to say I booked very quickly.
    All went through very smoothly.
Price then shot up to over £1000 (had to torture myself and keep checking to see if I could have done better!). As departure is now imminent there have been some prices like mine but with horrendously long stopovers so I am very happy with what I got from Opodo.

Have found their Customer Service very good too when it came to sorting API info.

Agree that Expedia is usually £10 more than booking airline direct.

Found Greenbee.com to be good though along with Travelocity. The AA site was good too (can check individual seat availability of the flights before booking if specific seats are important) but in the end Opodo was cheaper. I've even booked all window seats except for the BA leg which doesn't allow seat reservations until 24hrs before departure.

Don't forget to go through Quidco too when using Opodo/expedia etc.

glad you got your booking in early.

I booked my flights to orlando in october through opodo, i would have gone direct but couldn't seem to find the infant dropdowns on the delta site, though it only cost me an extra £10-£20.

I had a big problem with expedia when I was looking as wa going to book off their, I went with a US airways flight for about £309 pp, when I went through the booking the price shot upto more than double, so I checked the US airways site and it was the same as the original price so not sure why expedia tried to charge so much.
