Hi,
We returned from a great holiday to find a Trojan on the PC and laptop and that my Hotmail account had been hi-jacked and used to send spam to everyone on the last page of my contacts list (back to earth with a big bump:eek:). This was despite AVG etc., so in an effort to stop this happening again we've taken advantage of a special offer with Kaspersky, for three machines, over two years at a cost of just over £31.
However the problem encountered on installing it on the main PC is that it conflicts with Pest Patrol. We had already removed this from the system a couple of years back, so all that was left was a folder containing a few read me files, log files and an uninstall file which doesn't do anything. The Windows Uninstall feature can't actually see any of this so can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?
Thanks in advance :T.

Automatic Removal of Pest Patrol from your PC:
If you want to get rid of Pest-Patrol without headache and risk of system damaging, automatic Pest-Patrol removal tool is the best choice for you. Moreover, there is a risk to get other malware and / or viruses in your PC, so since malware removal tool is eligible for detection of almost every dangerous malware and virus with subsequent removal, there is another considerable reason to remove Pest-Patrol automatically.
Download Pest Patrol Removal Tool for Windows XP and Vista
Manual Removal of Pest Patrol:
Pest-Patrol Manual removal requires that a user at least can manage .dll files and the Registry. Except this, Manual removal should be performed with the highest accuracy and precisely following the instructions below.

Many thanks for all your help, I was starting to think that we were stuck with it:eek:.
We've always gone for the free versions of AVG, Spybot etc., but none of them stopped this virus from Shanghai- hence Kaspersky. Although I don't like paying for computer protection, when there's so much free stuff out there, at least we got a good deal with their special offer.

Hi,
I've since discovered there are two Pest Patrols, there's CA eTrust's PestPatrol which is a kosher paid for application and there's Pest-Patrol which is a fraudulent scam imitation. I've actually got remnants of the kosher version, not the fraud. However I can't seem to get rid of it.
Any ideas please, as I've tried your other suggestions, but unfortunately without success.
Many thanks:T:T:TSome people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

have you tried simply deleting the offending folders ??
if you get a "File in use" message then try in safe mode
