Car warranties.........are they worth it?

Just about to spend £5k buying a car private rather than through a garage and obviously have worries that the car may breakdown on my just after purchase. The difference can be almost £1k between a private and a trade buy
Therefore, i was thinking of purchasing a warranty. Does anyone have experience of these and can they recommend a provider?

Might be worth looking around the Honest John website - there is an excellent guide to buying cars on the lh side of the main page, and may be something about warranties as well. If you can't find anything, you can register and ask a question in The Back Room.Signature removed for peace of mind0
